Haddock tells Tintin that his ancestor, Sir Francis Haddock, had to flee the original Unicorn more than three centuries ago because of an attack by a Sakharinean pirate precursor. Still, Haddock hid his riches and left traces of its location in three different scrolls, each hidden inside a Unicorn doppelgänger. Sakharine and Tintin each have one, and the antagonist intends to obtain the third by breaking glass with the operatic soprano Milanese Nightingale’s high Cs. To fulfill the prophecy that only the last of the Haddocks will be able to locate the treasure, the Thompson Twins, our boy hero, his dog, and the captain must prevent Sakharine from obtaining all three scrolls.
